About one year ago, we decided to make our permanent home here in Florida. We purchased our new home, but because we sold all of our furniture and furnishings in our old house, we faced the daunting task of starting with virtually nothing. We walked into Egret’s Landing and had the great fortune to meet Kathleen Salthouse. From that point on this wonderful lady and designer made furnishing our new home an absolute joy.  We gave Kathleen a picture we found in a magazine and left her with two thoughts.  First, we wanted a “zen” like feeling to our home and second, we wanted a coastal feel rather than just a “beachy” environment.

From there, Kathleen worked tirelessly to help us achieve what we wanted.

What we love about Kathleen is that she is always professional, a tireless researcher and willing to listen carefully to what the customer says.  However, she was also willing to introduce us to new ideas and suggestions, yet never crossing that line of “talking the client into something” that we did not want.

We now have a home with furnishings we love because Kathleen took the time and energy to help us get there. In conclusion, anytime we are in need of adding a little something to our home, our first (and almost always only!) stop is to see Kathleen Salthouse at the Egret’s Landing.

Earlier this year, my husband and I purchased a small condo on Longboat Key, Florida…..a dream come true for us both. We immediately contacted The Egret’s Landing located on Anna Maria Island to assist us with our decorating needs to update the very outdated living room and dining room.

We were fortunate to meet Linda Hendershot for our interior designer. From our very first meeting, Linda made us feel comfortable and valued and we immediately felt confident in her abilities. Linda knew the right questions to ask in order to get the “feel” for what we were looking to accomplish. She listened to us as well as made very valuable suggestions.

Our main goal was for comfort and durability, after Linda assisted us in selecting our furniture pieces…..she pulled together fabric groups for us to select from. We were amazed at her selections – she really had listened to us and it was reflected in her selection of fabric colors, patterns, and textures. She narrowed down 1,000’s of swatches to a few for our selections….made the whole process so simple for us.

We surely had no unpleasant surprises….Linda informed us of the estimated shipment dates and kept us updated and informed. She searched diligently for specialty pieces which fit our taste, space, utilization, and budget. We found Linda to be very respectful of our time as she was always punctual for all appointments and was very organized and efficient.

We took delivery of all our furniture on the same day….the day we like to refer to as our “reveal” day. Linda came and directed the furniture placement. She also brought with her many accessories for us to choose from to accent our beautiful condo. We could not be more pleased with our finished result.

After fifty-five years of “homesteading” in Illinois, including fifteen years of “snowbirding” in Florida, we made the monumental decision to sell both homes and buy something new at Harbour Isle on Anna Maria Sound.  We wanted to go with a fresh, coastal look, but also blend in a number of pieces and artifacts from our history.  Much of that history was in storage as we awaited completion of our new home.

On our morning walk about six weeks before closing, we stopped by Egret’s Landing to browse and were greeted by Ruth Santiago.  Ruth immediately had a grasp of what we wanted to do, and we gave her a budget and the go ahead to create a fresh, coastal home with a healthy touchy of nostalgia.  Working with her own personal flair and some photos of our things in storage, Ruth created the kind of home we had hoped for.  It was new, but allowed for the inclusion of almost everything we brought from Illinois.  She gave us options on how to blend the “looks” available and always deferred to our preferences.  We could not be happier with our new home and realize the major role that Ruth and  Egret’s Landing played in making it possible.

Linda provided a Interior Design consultation, and then proceeded to execute it.  It was important as a couple for us to trust her and follow her creative suggestions. With her warm and patient approach we did trust her and it paid off in dividends.

She was always available and returned our calls within seconds. We appreciated her gracious assistance and we our delighted with our new dining room makeover. She listened and helped us find our perfect room with style and taste. We would highly recommend her and will be calling her again for the remainder of our home.
